The first model was built in 2002. Diesel locomotive ТЭП70БС is intended for hauling passenger trains of high comfortability on non-electrified routes of Russian main lines with gauge width 1520 mm. Climatic version У according to GОSТ 15150-69. These locomotives can be operated in the countries of the Community o Independent states and Baltic region. The first locomotive ТЭП70БС is in service on Octyabr’skaya railway.
	ТЭП70У Passenger diesel locomotive ТЭП70У is a modification of passenger diesel locomotive ТЭП70 having improved technical parameters. The main components of the passenger diesel locomotive ТЭП70У are standard components for diesel locomotives ТЭП70, ТЭП70БС, 2ТЭ70. The locomotive is intended for hauling passenger trains on non-electrified routes of Russian main lines with gauge width 1520 mm. These locomotives can be operated in the countries of the Community of Independent states and Baltic region. Climatic version У according to GОSТ 15150-69.
	2ТЭ70 Modern (freight diesel locomotive with two 6-axle sections rated 8160 kW, design speed 110 km/h. The first prototype model was built in 2004.
